This tool counts your words, characters, sentences and paragraphs the instant you type or paste — nothing is sent anywhere, it all runs in your browser. Words are counted by splitting on spaces and line breaks, the way writers and editors count them, so it matches the count teachers and publishers expect.
It also estimates reading time at about 230 words per minute (a typical adult silent-reading pace) and speaking time at about 130 words per minute (a comfortable presentation pace) — handy for essays with word limits, articles, social posts and speeches.
