These are the three “averages” of a data set. The mean is the sum divided by how many values there are. The median is the middle value once they’re sorted (or the average of the two middle ones). The mode is the value that appears most often. This calculator finds all three, plus the range, count and sum, the moment you paste your numbers.
Each tells a different story: the mean is sensitive to outliers, the median resists them, and the mode highlights the most common result. Comparing them reveals whether your data is skewed or has repeated values.
mean = sum ÷ count · median = middle value · mode = most frequent
The mean is the arithmetic average; the median is the middle value when sorted; the mode is the most frequent value. They can all differ.
When the data has outliers or is skewed — like incomes or house prices — the median gives a more representative centre.
Yes. If several values tie for the most frequent, it’s multimodal. The calculator lists all of them; if none repeats, there is no mode.
