To move a recipe to a different pan, scale it by the ratio of the pan areas — batter depth stays about the same, so area is what matters. Multiply length by width for each pan and divide the new area by the original. A 9×13 recipe (117 sq in) baked in a 9×9 pan (81 sq in) needs about 0.69 of the recipe.
For round pans, area is π times the radius squared — a 9-inch round is about 64 sq in. Scaling up may need a longer bake; scaling down, a shorter one. Keep the batter depth similar and check for doneness rather than trusting the original time.
