How the Date Difference Calculator Works

This calculator counts the number of days between two dates — useful for deadlines, contracts, trips and anniversaries. It subtracts the earlier date from the later one to get whole days, then expresses that in weeks, months and years, and separately counts the business days by skipping Saturdays and Sundays.

Because it works with real calendar dates, leap years and different month lengths are handled automatically. The order of the two dates doesn’t matter — it always reports a positive difference.

days = later date − earlier date

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days are between two dates?

Subtract the earlier date from the later one. This calculator does that and also shows the gap in weeks, months, years and business days.

What counts as a business day?

Monday through Friday. The business-day figure counts those days between your dates and skips Saturdays and Sundays; it does not remove public holidays, which vary by location.

Does it include both the start and end dates?

It counts the number of days from the start up to the end date — the span between them. Add one if you need to count both endpoints inclusively.
