How the Hourly to Salary Calculator Works

To annualise an hourly wage, first find your weekly pay — the rate times the hours you work each week — then multiply by the number of weeks you work in a year. A standard full-time year is 52 weeks, giving 2,080 hours at 40 hours a week.

Enter your rate and adjust the schedule to match. The monthly figure is simply the annual salary split into twelve, which is slightly more than four weeks’ pay because months are longer than four weeks on average.

annual = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year

Frequently Asked Questions

What is $25 an hour annually?

At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, $25 an hour is $25 × 2,080 = $52,000 a year before tax.

Why is my monthly pay more than four weekly cheques?

Because a month averages about 4.33 weeks, not 4. The monthly figure divides your annual salary by 12, which spreads the extra days across each month.

Is this gross or net pay?

Gross — before tax and deductions. To see your take-home pay after federal, state and FICA taxes, use the Paycheck Calculator for your state.
