How the Glove Size Calculator Works

Glove size is based on the circumference of your dominant hand, measured around the palm at the knuckles (not counting the thumb). That measurement in inches is very close to your numeric glove size, and it also maps to letter sizes: about 7–8 inches is Small, 8–9 is Medium, 9–10 is Large.

Make a light fist while measuring for the most accurate fit. Between sizes, size up for work gloves and down for a snug athletic fit.

glove size ≈ hand circumference at the knuckles (inches)

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my hand for gloves?

Wrap a tape around your palm at the knuckles, excluding the thumb. That measurement in inches is close to your glove size.

What glove size is 8.5 inches?

About a size 8.5, or Medium.

Should gloves fit tight or loose?

Snug but not restrictive. Size up for warmth or work gloves, down for a close athletic fit.
