How the Wallpaper Calculator Works
Wallpaper is hung in vertical strips, so first find how many strips you need: the total width of your walls divided by the width of a roll. Then see how many full strips you can cut from one roll (roll length divided by wall height), and divide to get the number of rolls, rounding up. This calculator handles all three steps.
Add extra for pattern matching — a large repeat can waste a lot per strip — and buy all rolls from the same batch so colours match. Subtract large doors and windows only if they’re substantial; small openings are best left in as your waste margin.

How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?
Divide your total wall width by the roll width for the number of strips, see how many strips fit in a roll, then divide and round up.
Should I subtract doors and windows?
Only large ones. Leaving small openings in gives a helpful margin for trimming and mistakes.
What about pattern repeat?
A large repeat wastes wallpaper because each strip must line up, so buy extra — the bigger the repeat, the more.
