How the DPI Calculator Works
DPI (dots per inch) tells you how sharp a printed image will be: divide the image’s pixel dimension by the print size in inches. A 3000-pixel image printed 10 inches wide is 300 DPI — the standard for crisp photo prints. Print the same image larger and the DPI drops, making it look softer.
For photo prints aim for 300 DPI; large posters viewed from a distance can look fine at 150 DPI or less.
