How the Sentence Counter Works
This tool counts the sentences in your text the moment you type or paste it, by detecting sentence-ending punctuation — periods, question marks and exclamation points. It also shows words, paragraphs, characters and the average number of words per sentence, all live in your browser with nothing sent anywhere.
Average sentence length is a quick readability check: 15–20 words per sentence is comfortable for most readers, while much longer sentences can feel dense.
