Sock sizes are based on shoe size, but the numbers on the package refer to the sock’s own length, not your shoe. A men’s US shoe size 9–12 typically takes a “Large” sock, often labeled 10–13. This calculator maps your shoe size (converting women’s to the men’s scale) to the usual small/medium/large band and numeric range.
When a sock lists a single size like “10–13,” that’s the sock-size range, which fits a spread of shoe sizes. Stretchy knits give some leeway.

Men’s size 10 shoes take a Large sock, commonly labeled 10–13.
Not exactly — the number on the sock is its own length, which covers a range of shoe sizes.
Women’s shoe sizes run about 1.5 larger than men’s, so subtract 1.5 to use the men’s-based sock chart.
