Win percentage is the share of games a team wins. Divide wins by total games; ties count as half a win. A 10–6 record is a .625 win percentage, or 62.5%. It’s the standard way to rank teams regardless of how many games they’ve played.
In leagues without ties, it’s simply wins divided by games. Sports often show it as a three-decimal figure (.625) rather than a percentage, but they mean the same thing.
win % = (wins + ½ × ties) ÷ total games
Divide wins by total games, counting each tie as half a win. A 10–6 record is 62.5%.
Each tie counts as half a win in the numerator and one game in the denominator.
It lets you compare teams fairly even when they’ve played a different number of games.
