Density altitude is the altitude the air “feels like” to your aircraft — pressure altitude corrected for temperature. Hot air is thin, so on a warm day the engine, wings and propeller all perform as if you were much higher. A common approximation adds about 120 feet of density altitude for every degree Celsius the temperature is above standard.
Enter the pressure altitude and outside air temperature; the calculator finds the standard (ISA) temperature for that altitude, the deviation from it, and the resulting density altitude. High density altitude means longer take-off rolls and reduced climb.

Pressure altitude corrected for non-standard temperature — the altitude at which the air density matches what your aircraft is actually experiencing.
High density altitude thins the air, cutting engine power, lift and propeller thrust, so take-off and climb performance drop sharply.
Add roughly 120 feet per °C that the temperature is above the standard (ISA) temperature for your pressure altitude.
