A strong password is long and random. This tool builds one from the character types you choose — uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols — picking each character at random in your browser, so the password is never sent anywhere. The more character types and the greater the length, the more combinations an attacker must try.
Strength is measured in bits of entropy: each added character multiplies the possibilities. Sixteen characters from a full set gives roughly 100 bits — far beyond brute-forcing. Use a unique password for every account and store them in a password manager.

At least 12 characters, ideally 16 or more, using a mix of types. Length matters more than complexity for resisting attacks.
They increase the character set and strength, but length is the biggest factor. A long passphrase can be as strong as a shorter symbol-heavy password.
