To turn a fraction into a percentage, divide the numerator by the denominator to get a decimal, then multiply by 100. Three-quarters is 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75, and 0.75 × 100 = 75%. Percent literally means “per hundred,” so a percentage is just the fraction rescaled to a denominator of 100.
This calculator does both steps and also shows the decimal form.
percent = (numerator ÷ denominator) × 100
Divide the top by the bottom, then multiply by 100. 3⁄4 = 0.75 = 75%.
About 33.33% — it repeats, so it’s often rounded.
“Per hundred.” A percentage expresses a fraction with 100 as the denominator.
