How the Paver Calculator Works
Find your patio’s area (length times width in feet), then divide by the area each paver covers. A paver’s area is its length times width in inches, divided by 144 to convert to square feet. Dividing patio area by paver area gives the count, and adding a waste allowance covers cuts and breakage. A 12-by-10-foot patio with 12-by-6-inch pavers needs about 240 pavers, or 264 with 10% waste.
Add 5% waste for a straight, square layout and 10–15% for diagonal or herringbone patterns, which need more cuts at the edges. Buy from the same batch so colors match.
