Business driving is reimbursed by the mile: multiply the miles you drove by the applicable cents-per-mile rate. The IRS sets standard rates each year — for 2025 it’s 70 cents a mile for business, 21 cents for medical or moving, and 14 cents for charity — and this calculator applies whichever you choose, or a custom rate your employer uses.
The standard rate is designed to cover fuel, maintenance, insurance and depreciation combined, so you don’t track individual costs. Keep a mileage log with dates and purpose to support the claim.
reimbursement = miles × rate per mile
70 cents per mile for business use, 21 cents for medical or moving, and 14 cents for charitable driving. Multiply your miles by the right rate.
Everything: fuel, maintenance, insurance, registration and depreciation. That’s why you don’t deduct those costs separately when using it.
Yes. Employers can reimburse at any rate; many match the IRS figure. Enter a custom rate to match your company’s policy.
