Newton’s second law says force equals mass times acceleration: F = ma. A 10 kg mass accelerating at 9.8 m/s² (Earth’s gravity) experiences 98 newtons of force — its weight. Enter mass in kilograms and acceleration in metres per second squared to get the force in newtons, and in pounds-force.
