Unit price is what you actually pay per ounce, gram, sheet or item, found by dividing the price by the quantity. It’s the only fair way to compare two package sizes, because the bigger box isn’t always the better deal. This calculator works out the price per unit for two items and tells you which is cheaper and by how much.
Keep the size figures in the same unit for both items — both in ounces, or both in count — and the comparison is apples to apples.
unit price = price ÷ quantity
Divide the price by the quantity or size. $3.99 for 12 ounces is about $0.33 per ounce.
No — sometimes the smaller pack has a lower unit price, especially on promotion. Always compare.
Whatever the packages share — ounces, grams, sheets, count — as long as both items use the same one.
