A semester grade usually combines several parts — quarters, tests, a final exam — each worth a different share of the total. Multiply each grade by its weight, add them up, and divide by the total weight. A common split is 40% each quarter and 20% final exam, but enter whatever your syllabus specifies.
The weights don’t have to total 100% — the calculator divides by whatever they add to — but they usually should for a true semester grade. Use it to see how a strong or weak final will move your overall mark.
semester grade = Σ(grade × weight) ÷ Σ weight
Multiply each component grade by its weight, add the results, and divide by the total of the weights. This calculator handles three components.
The calculator divides by whatever the weights total, so it still works — but for a proper semester grade they should sum to 100%.
It depends on its weight. A 20% final can move a semester grade by a few points; enter different exam scores to see the effect.
