DOTS scores a powerlifting total relative to bodyweight, so lifters of different sizes can be compared fairly. It multiplies your total (in kilograms) by a coefficient derived from a fifth-order polynomial of your bodyweight. The lighter you are for a given total, the higher the DOTS. It replaced the older Wilks formula in many federations from 2019 onward.
DOTS uses a single formula for all bodyweights and separate coefficients for men and women. A score around 300 is a solid intermediate lifter; elite competitors push past 500. Enter your total in pounds or kilograms and the calculator converts as needed.
DOTS = total(kg) × 500 ÷ (a + b·bw + c·bw² + d·bw³ + e·bw⁴)
A number that scales a powerlifting total by bodyweight so lifters of different sizes compare fairly. Higher is better.
Many federations switched to DOTS from 2019 because it fits modern data better, especially at the extremes of bodyweight. Both aim to do the same job.
Very roughly, 300 is a strong intermediate, 400 is advanced, and 500+ is elite. Standards differ by sex and federation.
