How the Coin Flip Works

Press Flip and the tool simulates a fair coin: each toss has an exactly even chance of heads or tails, decided by the browser’s random function. Flip several coins at once to settle group decisions, or keep flipping a single coin and watch the running tally.

The session counter shows how your heads rate settles toward 50% as flips add up — a live demonstration of the law of large numbers. Short runs can streak surprisingly far from 50/50, which is completely normal.

heads if random fraction < 0.5, otherwise tails

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coin flip fair?

Yes. Heads and tails each have an exact 50% chance on every flip, independent of previous results.

Why did I get five heads in a row?

Streaks are normal in random sequences. Each flip is independent, so past results don’t change the next — but over many flips the rate approaches 50%.

Can I flip more than one coin?

Yes. Set the number of coins and each Flip tosses them all, reporting how many heads and tails came up.
