How the IVF Due Date Calculator Works
With IVF the conception date is known exactly, so the due date is more precise than usual. A pregnancy runs about 266 days from conception (fertilisation). Because an IVF embryo is already a few days old when transferred — 3 days or 5 days (a blastocyst) — you subtract that age: the due date is the transfer date plus 266 minus the embryo’s age in days.
A day-5 blastocyst therefore gives a due date 261 days after transfer, and a day-3 embryo 263 days after. The calculator also shows how far along you are today and your trimester.
