Overtime pay is your regular hourly rate multiplied by an overtime rate — most commonly time-and-a-half (1.5×) for hours worked beyond 40 in a week under U.S. federal law. Enter your rate, your regular and overtime hours, and the multiplier your job uses, and the desk splits out each part of your paycheck.
Some states and roles require double time (2×) after a certain number of hours, or overtime after 8 hours in a single day. Check your local rules and adjust the multiplier to match.
total pay = (rate × regular hours) + (rate × multiplier × overtime hours)
Under U.S. federal law, non-exempt employees earn at least 1.5 times their regular rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek. Some states add daily overtime or double time.
Federally, overtime is based on the 40-hour week, not the day. But some states, such as California, require overtime after 8 hours in a single day. Adjust the hours and multiplier to match your rules.
This calculator uses your stated hourly rate. If your regular rate legally includes certain bonuses, enter that higher figure as the rate.
